Writing Styles

Hey kids,
After working through a variety of TRINITY exams it seems we must pause and review some grammar.
It is very clear that we must distinguish between different types of writing.

We will review the following...
1. Essay
2. News Article
3. Letter
4. Email
5. Story
6. Biography

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind- 5C hw

Hey kids,
After learning about kids around the world and what pushes them to react, survive and become innovative under difficult circumstances here is a film that can inspire us to take action despite our situation.

Here are 2 review questions.
1. Why was William forced to drop out of school?  What does this tell us about the education system in Malawi? (Where is Malawi?)
2. What motivated William to bring electricity to his home?

Just a thought...
Was William an agent like you, a PYP student?

Do NOT COPY!! Cite your source! Do NOt PLAGERIZE!

Hey kids,
It is very important that we pause and reflect about the way we write.
We must enjoying the different texts out there but if we need to bring information to class we must read, think, understand and paraphrase or write the ideas from our point of view in our own words.

If it is essential that we extract exact  information we must always respect the writer, journalist, investigator, etc. by stating our source, a citation.

If we take information and call it our own- THAT IS WRONG!

IF YOU HAVE FURTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS ON THIS WORD OR TOPIC, PLEASE TALK TO ANY TEACHER OR GROWN UP!

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE WHEN WE ASK YOU TO INQUIRE?

Here is a little review of some details we have been looking at.  We need to review this since we will  write our own newspaper for 5th grade.

Can you identify the parts?

Can a newspaper include different types of writing? If yes, then where? Could you choose an article and try to identify the style?

Here are some of the main parts & descriptions, organized by importance!
